April News 2012 04/09/2012

The children of P3 are really "springers" about "hopping to it" this month! We have been working on fractions and measurements, and we will soon study landforms. We had a lot of fun learning how to divide shapes into equal sized pieces.
Thank you, parents, for attending your child's conferences. It is helpful to get input from parents. If you missed your conference please reschedule.
We enjoyed a Easter hunt and party on Thursday, April 5th.
The P3 class is looking forward to Grandparents/Special Person Day on April 19th. The children are ready to show all they have learned this year!
The Last week of April is Hobby/Collection Week. Please help your child ready a collection and/or hobby to present to the other children. Some suggestions include: books, dolls, cars, rocks and shells.
Thank you for all your help reinforcing what the children learn at school!

We have been so busy these past few months.  Hopefully by now you have received your child's mid-year progress report.  We are proud of all the achievements the children have made, they have been working hard during our Montessori work time.

During the month of February we enjoyed celebrating our Hundred Day of school.  It is a fun school event.  The children displayed their 100th day projects, enjoyed counting 100 snacks, built a snake out of 100 blocks , enjoyed hearing the Mrs Bindergarten celebrates the 100th day of Kindergarten and sang the Piggy Bank song!!!!!!!  Also during the month of February the primary children made a visit to the seniors at the Folcroft Union Church where they presented a special Valentine's program singing many Love songs written by Dr. Di Renzo.  It was a fun day for all!

We started this month with Dr. Suess week.  The children enjoyed bringing in their favorite Dr. Suess books to have read. They enjoyed dressing Wacky Wednesday when they came to school dressed Wacky!!!! They ended the week with a fun visit from the Cat in The Hat!

The children have been learning about clocks and learning to tell time.  We encourage you to reinforce this at home by talking about time and clocks during their daily routine.

Today we had our St. Patrick's Assembly.  Our class marched in to the Irish Jig... and we all enjoyed singing many Irish song favorites.  We also had a visit from a mischievous leprechaun that turned lemonade green and caused some havoc in the classes...... the children always enjoy this fun holiday tradition here at the Ted Di Renzo School!!!!!

I have been busy planning the summer curriculum plans and I once again look forward to being the head teacher for the summer.  Our theme is Summer Camp Rocks....  Around the World!!!!!   More details will soon follow!

Soon I will be scheduling spring parent conferences and I look forward to be meeting with you.

Enjoy this beautiful spring weather... we sure are in the P3 class!

January Update 01/19/2012

We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays.  Thank you for your generosity with gifts and donations throughout the Christmas season.  Our Martin Luther King/Special Person Assembly was educational and fun.  The P3 class learned about Robert McNair, a NASA astronaut.  The children also learned many interesting facts about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King.

This month the children are learning about geometric solids, the continents and money.  Please practice money with your children at home.  They love to play games with money.

The children are looking forward to Pajama Day on January 25th.  It is a fun day to be cozy in our pajamas and enjoy stories together.

Please start thinking about your child's 100th day project.  They can collect a 100 objects and make a poster or collection.  Some ideas are stickers, buttons, pennies, paper clips or cereal.
