Dear Parents,
Welcome to our Early Learning Center (ELC).  We look forward to a wonderful and exciting new year here at the Ted Di Renzo Montessori School.  Clara Renshaw and Beth Huggins will be our teachers with the E1 students and Susan McDonnell and Beth Hawkins will teach our E2/E3 class.  Marge Curry will also be assisting in both classrooms throughout the day and once again Elaine Del Rossi will be with our E1 students in the afternoon. Beth Huggins, LaMonte Brooks and Beth Hawkins open the school each day and Marge Curry and Elaine Del Rossi close each day. The children have settled in beautifully to the new school year and we look forward to watching your child grow.
Each day in our Early Learning Center classrooms begins with the morning activities such as: snack, Circle Time, which includes the Pledge of Allegiance, our school song, calendar, weather, and many cute finger-play songs to start our day!  After Circle Time, we transition into Montessori work where the children work on various manipulative materials scaled down to match their individual abilities.  Incorporated into work time we have an “I Can” program and with each accomplishment and milestone they will be given a key which will be dated and put into their “I Can” can.
Our school day begins at 9:00am.  It is important that all students have arrived and settled into class by this time.  Our circle time begins promptly at 9:30am then followed by “work time.” If you should arrive after 9:30 please sign your child in at the office.  An office person will take your child to their class so that the morning activities that are in progress will not be interrupted. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
To assist us in helping to make our program run a little smoother, please abide by the following requests
  1. Please sign your child in and out of school each day.  Each room of the school has a clip board with sign in/sign out sheets on it, this is for your signature and time that you drop off and pick up your child.  Please remember to sign your full name on the sign in/out sheet.  Please do not write mom, dad, etc.
  2. Please send in a recent picture of your child for our VIP board.  We will put your child’s picture on this board for the school year.  Please send your picture in as soon as possible.
  3. All children must wear socks and sneakers for sitting and standing or using the jumper. It is the school’s policy.
  4. All cups and personal items need to be labeled.
  5. Please send in a change of clothes for your child.  Please have them marked with your child’s name.  Be sure they are weather appropriate.
  6. All children should have a school bag.  Please have a label with his or her name on the outside of the bag.
  7. We encourage your child to become independent and welcome finger foods.
  8. Only the children under the age of one need to provide us with a feeding schedule.
  9.  Please let us know the week before if you are planning to bring in a treat for your child’s birthday, such as cupcakes, munchkins or cookies.  No party favors, please.

  1. Throughout the year we will request parents to contribute to our classroom parties. Thank you in advance for your participation.
  2. Please label lunch boxes and include an ice pack, a napkin, and a spoon or fork if needed.  No soda or glass is allowed.  Lunches cannot be heated.  If your child is here for a longer day you may want to include an extra snack or drink.  No candy please.  Please use a thermos if you would like your child to have warm food.  Our E2/E3 students will be introduced to drink out of a cup, and we prefer not to have sippy cups.  We encourage you to do the same at home.
  3. Each month you will receive a tentative calendar.  This will let you know of the activities planned out for that month.  Also, you can visit the school website, www.tdrmont.net, and check out our Facebook page that has lots of updated activities and information.

Each day is a new and exciting challenge for your child.  We are happy to be part of your child’s learning experience.  Most importantly, we want you to know how special your “little ones” are to us and we are first and foremost concerned with their safety and happiness.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call me anytime during the school day.
                                                                                            Sincerely,
                                                                                         The ELC Staff
