Hip Hip Hooray! It's May!

5/13/2013

Picture
Let the month begin with May Day!  The students dressed up in red and white and had a special visit from Raggedy Ann.  We had our tea party and enjoyed yummy sugar and pink lemonade cookies.  We also had refreshing lemonade to drink.  We brought our stuffed animal friends with us to the party and outside to visit the Maypole.
Our Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day celebrations were a great success!  The children were very excited about the crafts that were made for their moms.  We also had a fantastic time at our Talent Time assembly.  Each student had a great performance and the parents and teachers were very impressed and proud.
Please don't forget to have your children wear sneakers to school so that when we go outside for playtime they are able to take part.  This is a school policy and we appreciate your cooperation.
      Important date to remember:
Monday, May 27th         School closed for Memorial Day

                                          Thank you,
                                              -Ms. Dana

Spring Time Is Here!

What windy weather we've been having.  The seasons are definitely changing from winter to spring. Our kites are perfect for flying now!  We are looking forward to our Spring Assembly in which we are marching in.  Our song choice for this assembly will be "You Are My Sunshine". The "I Can" student this assembly is Chase. On Thursdays we have been enhancing our Spanish skills and doing wonderful projects.  We are looking forward to our Hobby and Collection Week which goes from April 15th - 19th.  Please help your child decide what collection they would like to bring in to share with their class.  We anticipate warmer weather and we will also try to measure the rain as it comes.  We all know the saying "April showers bring May flowers..", and we hope to use the rain we collect and measure to help grow our own flowers. Don't forget to visit the school Facebook page and see pictures of things we are doing in school and information on upcoming events!

                                                    Happy Spring!

Welcome March!

This month the Primary class is excited about all of the fun things planned.  We are celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday, and this week is our official Dr. Seuss Week!  This week we will be reading many of his books and there will be a fun visit from "The Cat In The Hat" to read more stories to us.  Wacky Wednesday is today, and we have had fun dressing wacky, reading the "Wacky Wednesday" book, and having our wacky dance time.  There are many other things planned for this month.  The St. Patrick's Day and "I Can" Assembly, Spanish with Ms. Simone, Music Enrichment with Ms. Rose, Safety Kid Assembly, and our great Easter party are all scheduled for this month and we are really excited about celebrating them.  This month the "I Can" kids are Ariana and Amelia.  They are very excited about showing the other classes what they have accomplished.  The Primary classes are hosting our annual Grandparents' Day on March 7th.  We are looking forward to having grandparents and special persons come and join us that morning.  March is also Safety month here at the Ted Di Renzo Montessori School, and we have been learning many safety tips and songs to help us be safe kids. As you can see, there are many things happening this month!
Spring is just around the corner, and we are looking forward to warmer temperatures.  Don't forget to look at the school's Facebook page to see events and highlights of our day.

                                                            Happy Spring!
                                                                   -Ms. Dana

Love is In the Air!

According to the groundhog, only 6 more weeks until Spring!  We can't wait!  Our class has been practicing along with the P3 class for our Valentine's Day Outreach Program at the All Saints Episcopal Church.  We are looking forward to this day.  Our "Parents Day" and "100th Day of School Celebration" was a great success! The projects, counting activities and "100th Day Goodie Bags" were all exciting and fun.  We really loved having our parents come and visit with us and see all of the great things we learn each day. We also had a wonderful time celebrating Chinese New Year by tasting delicious treats in class and learning all about the Chinese New Year customs and activities in Spanish class with Miss Simone.  Please don't forget to check out our class on Facebook and "like us." We love having you look at the site.  Our Brite Music theme for the month is "Love", and we will show that to our family and friends each and everyday.

                                                                        Thank You!

Happy New Year!

1/8/2013

Happy and healthy new year to all!  We stepped into our "Golden Slippers" once we came back to school.  We have transitioned into our new classroom for our morning routines quite nicely.  Even though our classes are separated during the morning, we look forward to working with our P3 friends after lunch each day.
January is full of new and exciting lessons.  As a class we have chosen to spotlight Ben Vereen as P2's "Special Person" in our discussion during our January Martin Luther King assembly.  We are looking forward to "Pajama Day", at the end of the month and will be going on a "Bear Hunt" in relation to hibernation.
Thank you to all of the staff and students that have made the class transition smooth for both myself as well as our new students here at Ted Di Renzo Montessori School.

It's Holiday Time

12/13/2012

Picture
The month of November just flew by.  We had many fun activities including a
Presidential Election, a Veteran's Day assembly, a Harvest Celebration, and
especially our Thanksgiving Play and Feast.  The children did an amazing
performance.  Our Thanksgiving Feast was delicious thanks to Ms. Simone and
Ms. Nicole who cooked the turkeys and stuffing.  We appreciated all your
kind donations.  The children helped set the tables and they also made the
butter for the muffins. We are in the midst of our Holiday preparations.
The children are working on decorations, songs, Las Posadas in Spanish class and our Christmas Around the World theme.  Miss Dana's P-2 class is presenting Italy, while Miss Connie's class will feature Japan's holiday customs.
Some of the Primary children from each of our classes will participate in our
holiday outreach program to shut-ins and neighbors, to sing for them.  We
are especially looking forward to our classroom parties and sing along with
Santa.  Thank you in advance for the donations for the "Warm and Fuzzy
Christmas Tree".  Miss Dana and I have enjoyed working with the children on
all our projects.
We want to wish everyone a safe, peaceful, and happy holiday!

                    -Miss Connie & Miss Dana
